Travel through the Hells Canyon Byway, one of the region’s premier attractions, by car, boat or foot.
Hells Canyon is the deepest canyon in North America, and easily one of the most spectacular. The raging wild
waters are bounded by canyon walls rising more than a mile on each side, and some of the exposed volcanic rock
is estimated to be 250-300 million years old. Eight sets of Class III to V rapids make sections of the river
one of the challenging rafting areas in the United States. With nearly 900 miles of trails, there is something
to excite either the new or experienced hiker.
Explore the interesting art city of Joseph, Oregon and the stunning Wallowa Lake Recreation area nearby.
The newly renovated and recently revived Eagle Cap Excursion Train is within walking distance. Restaurants,
shopping and medical services are available in Wallowa and Enterprise.
